About the Brand
Whimsical, quirky, sophisticated and accessible home designs for the contemporary collector who appreciates fashion
Twinkle Living encapsulates Wenlan ChiaÕs fashion sensibility, her contemporary lifestyle, and a childhood spent amongst the expansive architecture of her native Taiwan.
Since TwinkleÕs inception as a womenÕs fashion company in 1999, WenlanÕs signature look has impressed the fashion community as well as her loyal clientele, who remain steadfastly devoted to the lineÕs whimsical dresses and ultra-feminine separates. With custom prints and designs inspired by imagery culled from a life spent working in the arts, traveling the world, and escaping with idle daydreams, Wenlan brings a fresh point of view to her work and is thrilled to translate her ideas into a line of unique but accessible collection for the home.
As the case with Twinkle womenswear, the 300-thread count bedding designs of Twinkle Living are designed to mix and match. Bedding is available in 11 patterns and twelve color selections ranging in price from $50 for a pair of pillowcases to $300 for a duvet cover. Geometric patterns include Cosmic, an eccentric combination of dots and ovals, as well as Wavy Stripes, a stripe pattern broken by dips and waves. Nature is incorporated into Shanghai, an Asian-inspired floral print comprised of giant and tiny flower motifs blended in an original textile print. Patterns Ð available in feminine and masculine color ways Ð have been developed to accent a wide range of modern furniture dcor elements.
A highlight of the Twinkle Living collection, hand-tufted New Zealand wool rugs are available in ten designs and range in price from $150 to $5000. Shadowland, a 10x13 ecru rug, features a futuristic mix of organic birds, flowers and squares. Cherry Blossom, a reworked print from TwinkleÕs spring 2004 collection, bursts with oversized striped flowers and red dots in a plush 7x5 rug. Wenlan even incorporates her beloved French Bulldog, Milan, into her designs with an adorable cut-out doormat replica of the black and white pooch.
TwinkleÕs popular intarsia knits are also translated for the home as wool and cashmere throws. The 6x8 designs feature two Twinkle icons: the Dancing Unicorn and the Daring Fox, and are featured in contrasting colors of brown with red and white with navy. Solid throws are available as well, and colors include sea urchin, forest, French grey, and tea rose. The throws will retail for $400 and, in conjunction with silk screened cotton canvas throw pillows done in geometric prints ($50 each), will enable shoppers to mix and match and create their own unique beds.
Wenlan founded Twinkle after her handmade chunky knit sweaters caught the eyes of stylish New Yorkers on the street as she strode to class at the Fashion Institute of Technology. Her ability to combine advanced knitting with fashion forward ideas made the craft hot again. Originally trained in the arts, Wenlan draws all of her own patterns for both her home and fashion collections. Young Hollywood has fallen in love with WenlanÕs arty ingnue look, whose roster of trendsetting admirers includes Mischa Barton, Maggie Gyllenhall, Kate Hudson and Scarlett Johanssen. In 2000, Wenlan rounded out her knitwear with a complete ready-to-wear collection that comes to life each season on the New York fashion week runways. In 2004 Wenlan expanded to a sought-after accessory line.
